Kiwi Sport Netball!!

Our first netball lesson with the Kiwi Sport tutor was awesome. We did warm ups that were jogging, skipping, shuffle running and then  criss-cross running. After we did our warm ups we moved onto the group works and we had to get into four teams on four of each colours that were on the pavement floor. When we got into four teams we had one hoop and one netball ball. We had to try and throw the ball into the hoop without touching it then we moved the hoop to the middle and then we had to put it over our heads.  We played a game with three people in each team and threw the ball to each other. The last game was just a game of netball.  Netball was awesome!!!

How To Make Pewter Jewellery.

On Wednesday 28 May 2014 we went to technicraft.  Mr Grundy was there and he said we were going to make some pewter jewellery. We were learning the basics of metals and wood  material. After we were introduced to what we were going to do we moved onto looking at the worksheet he set up for us. He said we had to fill it out before we moved on to actually working with the  hard materials.
We needed to choose a picture from Google images by typing in the word silhouette followed by the shape we wanted. The next step was to get MDF wood blocks. Mr Grundy printed out the picture he was going to use and said that we had to turn the piece of paper over and shade the back of it. Then we traced the picture onto the MDF wood but pressed a little harder. When we took the paper off the MDF wood we used our pencil to draw over it.
The next step was to take the MDF to the scroll saw and cut out the drawing. Then mark the outside of the drawing and finally it was ready for the pewter to be poured in.  After the alloy is poured in we waited for 5-10 minutes to let it cool down.  When it was cooled down we took off the rubber band and the two wood pieces that kept the MDF wood secure. We removed it carefully. Then we the pillar drill and drill a hole in it so the string could be threaded. When we had finished drilling we used a set of needle files to make the edges shine with a nice finish.
Use a 180 grit sandpaper and rub the pewter against the sandpaper. When we were finished the 180 grit sandpaper we moved onto the 400 grit sandpaper when we were done with that and move onto the 1200 grit sandpaper to give it a good finish. After using the grit sandpaper we used the grit sandpaper with water to give it a nice polish. When we had finished with the sandpaper we had to water wipe off the grit. After that we used the buffer to make it look like we hadn't  even make it.Then we used the brasso to give it a final shine.

What We Have Been Learning!!

When we share on-line we will make smart decisions about what personal information we share
  • I will use my first name only
  • I am going to think carefully about what I share on-line and if I am not sure I will  ask my parents, teachers or principal.
  • If I can’t ask anyone or I am not sure I will  keep it private
  • I will be sharing what I am learning, new knowledge and information relevant to my learning

We have been learning to make sure that our personal information like our home address and our last name is not on the blog.We will be sharing our first name and we could share our age but not our D.O.B (date of birth).
